BASEBALL

Haun’s hit lifts UCA in the 10th

Michael Haun drove in two runs in the top of the 10th inning to lift the University of Central Arkansas to a 4-2 victory over the University of New Orleans on Friday in New Orleans.

Haun, pinch-hitting with the bases loaded and two outs, hit a liner just over the glove of the New Orleans shortstop that scored Tyler Smith and Justin McCarty to put UCA (13-9) ahead. Mark Moyer came on in the bottom of the inning and set the Privateers down in order for his second save of the season.

UAPB staves off Texas Southern

JP Soriano went 4 for 5 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI, and Jacob Columbo went 2 for 3 with a home run and 4 RBI as the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff held off a late rally by Texas Southern to win 12-10 on Friday in Houston.

Cutter McDonald and Ryan Mallison had two hits each for the Golden Lions (7-10), who survived an eight-run, eighth-inning rally by Texas Southern.

Emshoff, Coker, Alexander key UALR victory

Kale Emshoff had four hits, and Chase Coker and Troy Alexander each had three hits to lead the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to a 5-1 victory over the University of Texas-Arlington on Friday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

James Gann went 2 for 3 for the Trojans (12-9). Chandler Fidel struck out 9 over 7 innings to improve to 3-2.

ASU shut out by ULM

The University of Louisiana-Monroe held Arkansas State to three hits in a 2-0 victory Friday in Monroe, La.

Chase Beal allowed 2 hits and struck out 6 in 5⅔ innings for ULM (12-9).

Grant Hawkins, Andrew Leggo and Tobias Johnson managed hits for the Red Wolves (8-10).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

ASU Mid-South avoids elimination

Trevor Banks had 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Terrandus Smith added 11 points as Arkansas State University Mid-South staved off elimination by edging Highland Community College 68-66 on Friday in the NJCAA Division II Men's National Basketball Tournament in Danville, Ill.

Dee Montgomery and Montee Randle each had 10 points for the Greyhounds (28-7), who will play Erie Community College in a fifth-place game at 2 p.m. today.

SOFTBALL

Arkansas tops Missouri

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville scored all of its runs in the second inning, and freshman Mary Haff registered her ninth complete game of the season in Friday’s 3-1 victory over Missouri in Fayetteville.

Autumn Buczek delivered the big blow in the second with a two-out, two-run triple for Arkansas (24-5).
