Monday recruiting tidbits: Hogs make cut for top prospect

One of the nation's top prospects has Arkansas as one of his top schools because of the coaching staff and his belief the Hogs has a chance to be an elite program.

Offensive lineman Branson Bragg, 6-4, 295 of Crandall, Texas said "Coach Morris and the whole staff are great people, I think there’s promise there for an elite program."

He named the Hogs as one of his top eight schools on Sunday. He also listed Texas, Texas A&M, Stanford, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and Michigan State as favorites. He plans to make an unofficial visit to Fayetteville this spring.

ESPN rates Bragg a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 center in the nation.

Highly recruited offensive lineman Jack Buford, 6-5, 325 of St. Louis Lutheran North said he also plans to visit Arkansas this spring. The Hogs are one of 26 offers he has accumulated.

He said his uncle and former Razorback star Bobby Joe Edmonds has spoken highly of the Hogs. He said that and his relationship with offensive line coach Dustin Fry makes him want to check out Arkansas.

Arkansas receiver target TQ Jackson plans to make an unofficial visit to Arkansas for the Hogs' game against Alabama on Oct. 6.

Jackson, 6-3, 185, 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Jefferson, Texas, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Minnesota, Arkansas State, Houston, SMU, Texas Tech and others. He visited Fayetteville on Feb. 24.

He plans to visit TCU the week after visiting the Razorbacks.

Sophomore running back Gary Banks of Memphis Freedom Prep said he plans to make a return trip to Arkansas soon. He visited the Hogs on Feb. 24.

Cornerback Markel Reed, 6-1, 166 of Temple, Texas said he plans to visit Arkansas on Wednesday. He reports offers from Baylor, Texas Tech and Rice.

Arkansas women's basketball coach Mike Neighbors plans to make an in-home visit with 2019 guard Tiara Young on Monday night.

Young, 5-10 of Shreveport Evangel is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN, the No. 9 guard and No. 26 overall recruit in the nation.

Four prospects have confirmed their plans to make official visits to Arkansas in April.
