GOLF: UALR, ASU women 5th, 6th; Harding men sixth in Alabama

UALR, ASU women 5th, 6th

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arkansas State University women’s teams finished fifth and sixth respectively at the Little Rock/ASU Invitational at Maumelle Country Club on Tuesday.

The Trojans had a final round 306 and finished with a 906, while the Red Wolves had a final round 315 to finish with a 315. Texas-El Paso won with an 878 while Northern Illinois was second at 891.

Individually, UTEP’s June Ting won medalist honors with a 218 after firing a final-round 72.

UALR was led by Emelie Blennow, who finished tied for seventh with a 220 following a final-round 74. Sabrina Bonanno was 10th with a 221 after a final-round 74.

Beth Ann Compton led the Red Wolves with a 225, featuring a final-round 77 to finish tied for 13th.

Harding men sixth in Alabama

Harding University men’s team finished sixth at the NCAA Division II National Preview at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals in Muscle Shoals,Ala.

The Bisons finished with an 899 for the 54-hole event, after shooting a 306 in Tuesday’s final round. Limestone (S.C.) College won the event with an 882. Newberry (S.C.) College was second with an 886.

Individually, Harding’s Juan Luis Sanchez Perez finished tied for 13th with a 223 after shooting a 71 on Tuesday.
