BASEBALL

UCA blanks Northwestern State

Hunter Strong and Keaton Presley each had two hits to lead the University of Central Arkansas to a 3-0 victory over Northwestern State on Friday in Conway.

Presley's RBI single brought in Strong in the fourth to break a scoreless tie for the Bears (17-10).

UCA tacked on two more runs in the fifth on Michael Haun's groundout and T.J. Black's single.

Tanner Wiley earned his second win of the season, striking out 8 and allowing 6 hits in 7 innings.

ASU pounds Louisiana-Lafayette

Arkansas State University scored four runs in the third and six in the seventh to crush Louisiana-Lafayette 14-2 on Friday in Jonesboro.

Jeremy Brown went 3 for 5 with a run, and Grant Hawkins had two hits and three runs for the Red Wolves (13-12). Tobias Johnson had two hits and three RBI, and Kyle MacDonald drove in three runs.

Late rally lifts UAPB past Prairie View

The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 4-3 victory over Prairie View on Friday in Pine Bluff.

Jarficur Parker's bases-loaded walk allowed Kacy Higgins to score the winning run for the Golden Lions (8-12). Jacob Colombo and Austin Toth scored on an error before JP Soriano's double drove in Ricardo Sanchez to tie it.

Soriano and Parker finished with two hits, and Sanchez had two RBI.

Big third inning keys UALR victory

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock used a four-run third inning to power past Texas State 7-4 on Friday in San Marcos, Texas.

Riley Pittman went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI, and Matt Merino and Kyle Emshoff added 2 hits each for the Trojans (16-10). Pablo Lopez allowed one hit over five innings for his second victory of the season.

Myers leads HSU past UAM

Joe Myers' two-run double in the seventh inning lifted Henderson State University to a 12-10 victory over the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Friday in Monticello.

Bryant Haralson struck out 6 over 7 innings to improve to 5-2 for the Reddies (20-10).

Caleb Carr and Jordan Harris each went 3 for 5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI for Henderson State.

Brian Ray went 2 for 5 with a home run, 5 RBI and 2 runs, and Jordan Johnson went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI for the Weevils (21-8).

Both teams are tied for first place in the Great American Conference at 15-4.

Harding falls in Searcy

Southeastern Oklahoma scored two runs in the sixth inning to erase a one-run deficit and defeat Harding University 2-1 on Friday in Searcy.

Mason Faulkner gave up 2 hits and struck out 5 in 3 scoreless innings of relief for Harding (15-17).

Thompson’s single lifts ATU

Korey Thompson’s RBI single in the ninth gave Arkansas Tech University a 12-11 walkoff victory over East Central on Friday in Russellville. Thompson finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI for the Wonder Boys (19-11, 12-7 GAC). Mark Vaughn and Kyle Gibbs drove in 3 runs each.

SOFTBALL

UA rallies past Mississippi State

Autumn Buczek doubled to right center to drive in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville a 3-2 come-from-behind victory Friday over Mississippi State. The Razorbacks trailed the Bulldogs 2-0 after three innings. Mary Haff earned her 16th victory for the Razorbacks (26-6, 3-4 SEC).
