HALL OF FAME

Springdale 2018 Hall of Fame class announced

The Springdale Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame will recognize 11 new inductees this summer for the Class of 2018.

The group will be honored at an awards banquet on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Central Junior High School cafeteria. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6:30 and the induction ceremony at 7 p.m.

The 2018 class includes the following honorees: Jimmy Culp (1973), Jon Dellinger (1982), Joan Tubbs Ricks (1983), Brian Hency (1987), Justin Combs (1990), Mike Jones (1990), Allicia Kellogg Kelly (2004), Kirsten Lee Lilly (2007), Josh Fohner (2008), Epiphany Smith (2008), Carroll McFerrin (meritorious service).

Tickets for the banquet are $15 per person and will go on sale beginning July 9 at the Springdale Public Schools athletics office at 3804 Kelley Ave.

VOLLEYBALL

Springdale High's Turner signs with Neosho CC

Springdale High senior dual-sport athlete Keyarrow Turner signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Neosho Community College in Ottawa. Kan.

Turner was a member of the Springdale Lady RedDog basketball team in addition to being on the volleyball team. She will focus on volleyball at Neosho. The Panthers compete in the Jayhawk Athletic Conference, where they were 28-12 last season.
