Legacy BancShares to buy Gravette bank

Legacy BancShares, which owns Legacy National Bank of Springdale, has agreed to buy Bank of Gravett in Gravette, Legacy National Bank said Friday.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close this summer.

Bank of Gravett, which was founded in 1898, had $114 million in assets on Dec. 31 and locations in Gravette, Hiwasse and Centerton.

Legacy National Bank had assets of about $460 million on Dec. 31 and five locations in Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale, and a sixth location that will open in Bentonville this summer.

With the addition of Bank of Gravett, Legacy National Bank will become stronger both in terms of size and presence in Benton County and four Washington County locations, said Patrick Swope, chief executive officer of Legacy National Bank.

Rick Pollreis, chairman of Bank of Gravett, will remain with Legacy as executive vice president and city executive of Gravette for the Bank of Gravett.

18-year exec at Dell takes Tyson position

Jennifer Davis, a longtime executive at Dell, is now the new vice president of corporate communications at Tyson Foods.

Davis will be an adviser for Tyson's leadership team and shape the company's brand and internal and external communications strategy.

"[Davis] has a strong track record of leading proactive, integrated communication strategies, and we're pleased to have her join our team," said Mary Oleksiuk, Tyson's executive vice president and chief human-resources officer, in a statement Thursday.

Before the move to Tyson, Davis worked 18 years for computer technology company Dell, where she served in several communication roles.

There, her resume ranged from client solutions and global supply-chain communications, to vice president of product and operations communications, and small- and medium-business communications. She also founded the Dell Women's Entrepreneur Network in 2010, which unites women business owners around the globe.

Windstream jumps; state index up 1.99

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, gained 1.99 to 400.62 Friday.

Windstream jumped 6.1 percent in heavy trading.

USA Truck lost 2.3 percent in light trading.

Total volume for the index was 21.4 million shares. The average daily volume for the week was 21.1 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
