Defensive driving

The radio station playing at the gym the other morning, which provides traffic updates, reported the following: There's a car with a flat tire on Interstate 30 near Little Rock's Sixth Street exit. It's causing traffic to snarl. Because it's in the center lane, and that's where the driver is attempting to change the tire.

Motorists: Don't do this. Not only is it incredibly dangerous--the chances of getting hit by vehicles flying by at 60-plus mph on both sides are enormous--but, according to Arkansas transportation codes, it's illegal.

Luckily, a state trooper was summarily dispatched to the scene, and nobody got hurt. As the radio DJ said, "No accident, just an idiot."
