A Foreman High School senior was killed in a wreck that also injured two of her classmates on May 16, 2018.

An Arkansas high school senior was killed in a wreck that also injured two of her classmates while they were on their way to graduation rehearsal Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. in Foreman in Little River County, according to a preliminary report from Arkansas State Police.

Amanii Beard, 18, of Foreman was driving south on County Road 53 in a 1999 Chevrolet when she lost control of the car, the report states.

The car left the road and collided with a tree, state police said. Beard was trapped in the Chevrolet Cavalier and had to be extricated, the Texarkana Gazette reported.

The Foreman High School senior was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 11 a.m., state police said.

Two of her classmates, ages 18 and 17, who were passengers in the Chevrolet were seriously injured and taken to Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, according to the Gazette.

The three were en route to Oscar Hamilton Elementary School, where they had started kindergarten together and would be practicing walking at graduation, the Gazette reported.

“It’s a tragic day for Foreman,” Foreman School District Superintendent George Kennedy told the newspaper. “Our thoughts and prayers go to the families. Foreman is a great town, and they love their kids.”

Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

At least 157 people have died in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police statistics.

New drivers often make such tragic mistakes due to inexperience of driving or inattention. My heart goes out to the parents.

Never ending story, Driving skills should be taught in School, Driving is a full time Job, there is not enough time to do anything else. Until this is understood, if it ever is, there will continue to be many more Needless Deaths. So sad and tragic, so young, so Tragic for all concerned.
