BENTONVILLE -- Part of the city will get a new ZIP code as the U.S. Postal Service works to keep up with the rapid growth in the area, the service announced Monday.
The 72713 code will become effective July 1 and will affect 7,910 residential and 132 business delivery addresses. No changes are being made in other nearby ZIP code areas.
The new ZIP code area will be split and the resulting 72713 ZIP code area will border the 72712 ZIP code area as follows:
• West on Southwest 14th Street (from the corner of Southwest I Street)
• South on Greenhouse Road
• West on Kimmel Road
• South on North Vaughn Road
• West on Holloway Road
• North on Wade Drive
• West on Edgewood Road
• South on North Tycoon Road
• West on Shady Acres Road
• South on Dorsey Lee Road
• South on Nugget Road
• West on Vaughn Road
• South on South Vaughn Road
•East on Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard
•Southern Border includes East Cowen Road, Waddell Road, Maxwell Road, Mill Dam Road, Morningstar Road
• North on Roberts Road
• East on Haxton Road
• North on North Main Street
• North on South Rainbow Road
• West on Southeast Walton Boulevard
• West on Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard
• North on Southwest I Street
Postal customers affected by the change will be notified by mail this month, according to a news release. Customers affected by the new 72713 ZIP code change are asked to:
• Use the new ZIP code on all outgoing mail.
• Notify people they regularly correspond with as soon as possible.
• Most mailings have a section where the customer can indicate their corrected or new address; however, "Notification cards for Correspondents and Businesses" will be available at the Post Office.
• Existing stationery and mailing supplies can still be used, but use the new ZIP code when reordering.
