BRUMMETT ONLINE: Voters are getting it

By John Brummett

This article was published May 23, 2018 at 4:30 a.m.

The story of the night was Courtney Goodson, personally disapproved of by so many, rudely rebuffed by voters two years ago, yet now the embattled champion slayer of dark money and our best choice for the Arkansas Supreme Court in November.

Indeed TT. Goodson is a terrible choice. So is Sterling. I'm not sure I'd say voters are getting it when the least questionable candidate ended up 3rd.

A new report shows that the median household income has climbed 3% since President Trump took office. It's another sign of a strong economy, and at least one poll shows the public credits Trump for the good news. Should Democrats wave bye to the Blue Wave?

Median household income has been steadily increasing under Trump, rising from $59,471 in January 2017 to $61,483 last month.

Rightside, the question is where is that rise happening. A closer look at the data suggest almost all of it is happening in blue states. Wages aren't going up in the rust belt or the deep south. Those coal mining jobs haven't returned, etc. I do give Trump some credit, but by and large POTUS has little to do with the economy, going up or going down, either party. Also note that the entire average household increase in take home pay from the tax cut has been eaten up by the rise in gasoline prices thanks to Trump's poorly thought out Middle East policies and his moves on Iran.

Let's not forget Terri Hollingsworth -- not just a woman, but an African-American woman -- winning the Democratic nomination for Pulaski County circuit/county clerk over Christopher Crane, the incumbent's son, who IIRC ran more ads and was better financed than her. I wish Gwen Combs had done better, but at least she managed to run second despite Paul Spencer getting more media attention than Clarke Tucker's other challengers.

Rightside I know this is hard for right-wingers to grasp, but Trump IS a maintenance president. That 3% is the same we've been having since the economic recovery started. it didn't "start" under Trump. It continued under Trump.
...
Adjusted for inflation, it's not much of an increase. I know your alt right sites want to pump it up as the Trump miracle, but as hah points out it's more about progressive economic environments mostly in blue states. AR is NOT seeing too much of that, except in a few economic centers. Most the state is in wage stagnation.

RB conveniently forgets the CBS polling that found 68% of respondents gave President Trump credit for the booming evonomy.
You can ignore reality, RB, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

Moz conveniently ignores that the question was about current state, not what Trump as done to grow the economy. Moz conveniently ignores the years of economic expansion prior to Trump. In fact, I think moz ignores a LOT of reality and chooses to live in an altered state of reality on most things.

RB, careful, or you're going to hurt someone's feelings. And for God's sake don't ask how that "easy to win" trade war is going. You will have them both confused and waiting for the bot to let them know.

RB, we've already established without doubt that no information penetrates your conciousness without the DNC seal of approval.
