BENTONVILLE -- Cave Springs Alderman Randall Noblett plans to run for mayor.
"I am excited to announce my candidacy to serve the people of Cave Springs as mayor," Noblett said. "Growing up on small family farm, I learned the basic values of hard work, honesty, integrity, loyalty and duty to community. Throughout a career with both large multinational and small independent companies, I learned the values of professionalism and dependability in all business dealings."
Noblett said he plans to uphold his values and bring positive change to the city through his public service.
He said was out of public office in 2015 and 2016, but he stayed informed by attending City Council meetings.
"The city's current financial condition, necessity to rebuild an effective city government, and demands of a growing city serves to make this election very crucial," Noblett said. "Cave Springs can't afford another private sector business person with little to no government experience; or a former official from over 10 years ago that sees the current political climate as an opportunity to advance their own political careers. I will not run for higher office, but will give back by reducing the mayor's salary by 15 percent."
Noblett has served as alderman and chairman of the Planning Commission. He trained in both positions through the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium and Arkansas Municipal League.
Noblett's started his public service career at age 21 when he became a volunteer firefighter. He was elected to the Fire Department board and served as an emergency medical technician, tornado spotter and reserve Sheriff's Office deputy.
"Cave Springs is so much more than just a city," Noblett said. "It's a community, where neighbors meet neighbors and lend a helping hand when needs arise. As mayor, I will lead with positive change and civility. By working together with other elected officials, employees, residents and business professionals; our community will thrive to ensure that the city's brightest days are still ahead."
Noblett is the first candidate to announce his candidacy. The term is four years and the yearly salary is $60,000.
Travis Lee i mayor of Cave Springs and hasn't announced his plans.
The general election is Nov. 6. Candidates for municipal offices begin filing noon, July 27 through noon, Aug. 17.
