National Memorial Day Concert on AETN.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the holiday, PBS' annual National Memorial Day Concert will air at 7 p.m. today on AETN, and repeat at 8:30. Airing live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, the concert is an annual tradition that honors those who died in all of the United States' wars, as well as those who are veterans and current members of the military.

Memorial Day was first widely observed in May 1868, and was declared a national holiday in 1971. It's celebrated the last Monday in May.

Hosts of the event are actors Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna. The all-star lineup includes Colin Powell, country singer Charles Esten, singer/songwriter Leona Lewis, actresses Allison Janney, Mary McCormack and Megan Hilty, actors John Corbett and Graham Greene, the National Symphony Orchestra, and Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band.

Also participating are the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the U.S. Army Chorus and Army Voices, the Soldiers Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band, the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants and the Armed Forces Color Guard and Service Color Teams.

The concert will also be live-streamed on pbs.org/national-memorial-day-concert, YouTube and Facebook.
