PBS' Nature is a show that brings the wonders of wildlife and stories of conservation to millions of viewers. It has won more than 700 honors from the television industry, international wildlife film communities and environmental organizations, including 18 Emmys and three Peabody Awards. They obviously know their stuff.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nature: A Squirrel's Guide to Success premieres on AETN. It can be streamed starting Thursday on pbs.org/nature and on PBS apps.

FYI -- the squirrel family, which has about 300 species over all, also includes chipmunks and prairie dogs. On this episode viewers will see:

• Squirrels using problem-solving skills on a specially designed obstacle course

• A fox squirrel who can remember the location of 9,000 nuts

• An acrobatic gray squirrel whose treetop leaps are the basis for new designs in robotics

• An orphan red squirrel named Billy as he grows up and develops the skills he will need to be released back into the wild.

A 7 p.m. Nov. 21, Nature: Dogs in the Land of Lions premieres. This episode takes viewers to the heart of an African wild dog family in the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe. Witness tender moments with newborn pups, the thrill of hunting wildebeest and close encounters with their greatest enemy -- the lion.

The population on the reserve is only about 700 breeding pairs due to a rabies epidemic in recent years.

And at 7 p.m. Nov. 28, Nature: Snow Bears debuts. The focus is on a pair of newborn polar bear cubs as they leave the safety of their den for the first time. Led by their mother, the cubs must make a perilous 400-mile Arctic trek to the sea to feed on seals, their favorite food.
