Beaver Lake

Cool weather bass fishing patterns are starting to kick into gear.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said anglers report black bass are starting to hit Alabama rigs and jerk baits. Average water temperature is in the high 50s.

Black bass can still be caught on top-water lures at first light, particularly with buzz baits. Jig and pigs are working for midday fishing.

Striped bass are scattered. Good reports have come from the area north of the Arkansas 12 bridge and from the north end of the lake, from Point 5 to the dam.

Crappie are biting minnows or jigs 15 feet deep around brush on the south half of the lake.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said crappie are biting minnows or jigs 15 to 18 feet deep around brush. Striped bass are moving into the south end of the lake. Use brood minnows or shad for bait.

Catfish are biting well on rod and reel or by jug fishing. Use small sunfish or goldfish to catch flathead catfish. For channel catfish, go with nightcrawlers, stink bait or hot dog chunks.

Lake Fayetteville

David Powell at the lake office said black bass are biting crank baits and plastic worms. Crappie fishing is slow. Try trolling crank baits. Anglers report catching three or four crappie per trip.

Lake Sequoyah

Mike Carver at the lake bait shop said crappie are biting well on minnows fished four to 15 feet deep. Some big crappie have been caught.

For black bass, try plastic worms or Zoom Flukes. Catfish are biting well on all catfish baits.

Bella Vista

Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista reports little fishing activity. Try trout fishing at Lake Brittany with Power Bait or small spoons.

Swepco Lake

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass can be caught with all types of soft plastic lures rigged several ways. Swim baits and crank baits are also working.

Siloam Springs Lake

Stroud recommends fishing for crappie with minnows around brush five to 10 feet deep.

Illinois River

Stroud recommends using small tube baits or grubs for black bass.

Eastern Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports fair crappie fishing at Fort Gibson Lake on jigs worked around docks and rocks.

Table Rock Lake

Fishing guide Pete Wenners said black bass fishing is slow. The crank bait bite should improve as the water cools. Try jig and pigs 15 feet or less around docks.
