'Seasonal' film fest

Home Alone (1990, PG) kicks off the Central Arkansas Library System's Not-Quite-Holiday Film Fest, 6:30 p.m. today in the Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock. Tickets are $5. Japanese musician Yoko Hiraoka, who plays string instruments including the biwa, koto and shamisen, performs at 7:30 p.m. today in the Recital Hall, Fine Arts Center, 2412 Quapaw Way, Jonesboro, part of Arkansas State University's Lecture-Concert Series. Her program, titled "Supernatural Tales: Ghost and Demons," will include "Yugao" ("Moon Flower"), "Miminashi Hoichi" ("Hoichi, the Earless") and "Adachi-ga-hara" ("Demoness in Adachi Fields"). Cosmetology exhibit

Little Rock cosmetology school Velvatex College of Beauty Culture has donated to the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. Ninth St., Little Rock, a collection of 105 hair and cosmetology tools, initially provided as part of the museum's recent exhibit, "Don't Touch My Crown," on the history and culture of black American hair. Owners Roberta Douglas and Rachel Willis subsequently offered to donate the collection to the museum. M.E. Patterson founded the school in 1929; it was the only such school in Little Rock open to black people. Museum hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Admission is free.
