BULL SHOALS;--;--;--;--

NORFORK;Excellent;--;--;Fair

WHITE RIVER The water level on the Bull Shoals Dam tailwaters of the White River has been steady, with about one unit of generation. Boating is easy, but wade fishing is challenging. Rooster Tails with orange bodies and gold or orange speckled blades are working. Any 1/6-ounce or 1/4-ounce Thomas Buoyant spoons with brass and nickel/gold Colorados, red/gold and silver/blue are catching a lot of rainbow trout, as are size 3 and 5 gold/black or brook trout Rapala countdowns.

NORFORK TAILWATER Fishing is very good. Some nice midge and sporadic caddis hatches have provided limited top water action. The most productive flies have been small midge patterns (sizes 18, 20, 22) like ruby midges, root beer midges, zebra midges (black or red with silver wire and silver bead) and soft hackles (sizes 14, 16) like the Green Butt. Egg patterns have been productive. Double-fly nymph rigs have been very effective. Try a small bead headed nymph (zebra midge, Copper John or pheasant tail) suspended 18 inches below a brightly colored San Juan worm (hot fluorescent pink or cerise size 10). The fishing is better in the morning.

BEAVER;Fair;Fair;Fair;Good

BEAVER TAILWATER Low water is making boat fishing very difficult. Trout have migrated toward Houseman Access and have been biting PowerBait and Rooster tails at 8 feet to 10 feet.

SPRING RIVER Trout are biting great on cool, cloudy days, with mig trout reported. Try Olive Woollies and on cloudy days and Y2Ks on the sunny days. On cloudy days, cast downstream with a slow, steady strip back upstream to get the hits. On hatches, a nymph pattern works great. Hot pink and white Trout Magnets are working well for spin fishing.
