Doggie Paddle Day to benefit Little Rock shelter

Dog owners can take their pets for a swim at the War Memorial Park pool on Sunday as part of a fundraiser for Little Rock Animal Village, the city's animal shelter.

The Jim Dailey Fitness Center Pool at 300 South Monroe St. will be open 2-5 p.m. for pets to swim. Admission to Doggie Paddle Day, sponsored by the nonprofit Friends of the Animal Village, is $10 per animal.

Dogs participating in Doggie Paddle Day must be spayed or neutered, get along well with other animals and be up to date on vaccinations. Volunteer lifeguards will be on duty.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Friends of the Animal Village, a volunteer organization that provides supplemental support for the shelter. The group accepts donations and hosts fundraisers throughout the year to raise awareness about the shelter, increase adoptions and improve the quality of life for animals housed there.

More information is available at friendsoftheanimalvillage.org or Friends of the Animal Village on Facebook.
