Elegantly dressed supporters of Philander Smith College gathered Sept. 29 to show their commitment to the private, historically black institution.
The President's Scholarship Gala, held at the Statehouse Convention Center, began with a cocktail reception before moving into the ballroom for dinner and the program. College trustee Robert Blue and former trustee Pat Lile co-chaired the black-tie event. The annual fundraiser supports scholarships, internships, mentoring, enrichment programs and enhanced curriculum.
Founded in 1877, Philander Smith College is a small, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
