Country singer Cody Johnson, along with his friends Jacob Bryant and David Adam Byrnes, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the First Security Amphitheater in Little Rock. Tickets range from $25 to $80.

Johnson, 31, grew up in Huntsville, Texas, and has self-released six albums since his debut, Black and White Label, in 2006. In 2011, he won the Texas Regional Music award for new male vocalist of the year, and after the win, he quit his day job with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to pursue a full-time musical career.

His latest album, Gotta Be Me, came out in August 2016.

(The show is being presented by George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville and the Razorback Foundation, as University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students are expected to travel to Little Rock for the football game Saturday against Ole Miss.)

Country singer Thomas Rhett will bring his Life Changes Tour, featuring opening acts Brett Young and Midland, to Verizon Arena in North Little Rock for a show at 7:30 p.m. today. Tickets range from $32.75 to $77.75, plus service charges; general admission is on the floor, no chairs.

Rhett, 28, a native of Valdosta, Ga., (whose full name is Thomas Rhett Akins Jr.) is the son of musician Rhett Akins. He attended college in Nashville, Tenn., but dropped out at age 20 to pursue music. He began his career climb with a publishing deal and wrote songs for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line and others.

He has released three albums: It Goes Like This in 2013, Tangled Up in 2015 and Life Changes in 2017. His first tour was as an opening act for Lady Antebellum in 2012.

In 2016, he won the Country Music Association song of the year award for "Die a Happy Man."
