Warriors' Hill returns with flourish in victory

After throwing his third touchdown pass of the first half, Justice Hill skipped his way to the Little Rock Christian sideline.

It was that kind of night for the Warriors.

Hill returned to the Warriors' lineup after missing two games because of a hamstring injury and led Little Rock Christian to a 40-20 victory over Little Rock Parkview on Friday night at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (6-1, 3-1 5A-Central Conference) led 33-0 with 1:20 left in the second quarter as Hill threw his third touchdown pass, covering 73 yards to junior Chris Hightower down the left sideline for a 40-0 advantage over the Patriots (3-4, 3-1), which was the halftime score.

Hill, a University of Arkansas basketball commitment, was excited about being back for Little Rock Christian.

"It was the emotions," said Hill, who completed 13 of 19 passes for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns. "I was happy to be back. We've got a good future ahead of us. If we do what we're supposed to do, it should all work out how we planned."

Warriors Coach Eric Cohu said Hill was feeling better throughout the week and Hill told his coach he was ready to play.

"We went with him, with it being such a big game," Cohu said. "Parkview is such a good football team. He showed why tonight he's the best football player in the state of Arkansas. What a performance he had."

Hightower finished with 5 receptions for 145 yards and 1 touchdown for the Warriors.

Little Rock Christian took a 6-0 lead with 9:59 left in the first quarter on Hightower's 1-yard run.

Parkview's Demetrius Feemster fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Christian's Jackson Woodward recovered. Two plays later, junior running back Kendel Givens broke four tackles on his way to a 13-yard touchdown run for a 12-0 lead with 9:35 left in the first quarter.

With 3:42 left in the first quarter, Hill found senior wide receiver Matthew Ware for a four-yard touchdown and a 19-0 lead.

Ware caught his second touchdown pass of the half from Hill, this one a 19-yarder, to make it 26-0 Warriors with 6:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Hill threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to senior Alex Clark at the 3:33 mark to extend the Warriors' lead to 33-0.

Little Rock Christian has won two consecutive games since losing 56-14 at Pulaski Academy on Sept. 28. Cohu said he's been pleased with how the Warriors have played since that setback.

"We know who we are and what our identity is," Cohu said. "We do have to learn to play through adversity not having our quarterback [Hill] for a couple of weeks. But we've responded well."

Senior running back Geary Allmon, who entered Friday's game with 807 yards and 8 touchdowns, was held without a scoring run by the Warriors. Allmon finished with 111 yards on 20 carries.

Also for Parkview, Junior fullback Thomas McCauley had scoring runs of 11 and 14 yards, both in the second half. Sophomore quarterback Landon Rodgers added a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
