Hopefuls in state races submit finance reports

Gov. Asa Hutchinson entered the final month of his re-election campaign with more than $2.2 million in the bank; Democratic challenger Jared Henderson began the race's final weeks with $123,803.

Monday was the deadline for candidates seeking state offices to submit their campaign finance reports for the month of September. They could also file by mail if it were postmarked before the deadline.

The general election, which includes state and federal offices, is Nov. 6.

Hutchinson's campaign reported a September fundraising total of $203,835, bringing its total raised during this election cycle to $4,643,221.62.

The Republican governor spent $217,525 last month.

"Today's report is another illustration of just how much the Governor's results, and more importantly his vision for the future is resonating with Arkansans," said Robert Moery, Hutchinson's campaign manager. "Our campaign continues to show strong numbers across a multitude of industries and locations from around the state. To finish strong over the next twenty-two days requires resources and thanks to those who support us we will be able to do just that."

Henderson for September reported spending $82,757.94 and raising $75,617.48. He's raised a total of $516,151.01 over the course of the campaign.

"We are continuing to see a strong surge of support from folks who are ready to invest in a stronger future for Arkansas," said Abby Anderson, Henderson's communications director. "Last month alone, the governor removed thousands from their health insurance through an internet reporting requirement and played politics with teacher pay increases. People want to see a fresh face in politics who is more focused on helping hard-working Arkansans reach their full potential and less focused on special interests."

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Mark West reported $1,340 in September campaign receipts. He spent $1,687.56.
