Robert Finley
Robert Finley

Robert Finley, a north Louisiana blues-soul singer guitarist, will perform at 8 p.m. today at South on Main in Little Rock. Tickets are $34-$36 reserved and $28 general admission.

A native of Bernice, La., not far from the Arkansas/Louisiana state line, he began playing guitar at age 11 and later joined the Army. His job was as a guitarist and band leader, but when he was discharged he could find no work as a musician and had no contacts, so he spent most of his working years as a carpenter.

Finley, whose age has been estimated as 65, released a debut studio album, Age Don't Mean a Thing, in 2016 and followed that with Goin' Platinum in 2017. The album was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, for whom Finley has toured as an opening act.

The show is the second in the 2018-19 Oxford American's Archetypes & Troubadours series.

Bijoux will perform with J. Phil at 10 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

John Fullbright will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $32-$36 reserved and $25 general admission.

Fullbright, who has headlined several past seasons of Oxford American shows at South on Main, grew up in Okemah, Okla., which was also the hometown of troubadour Woody Guthrie. Fullbright got his start as a member of the Turnpike Troubadours before going solo. His first CD, released in 2009, was Live at the Blue Door, which is a noted singer-songwriter venue in Oklahoma City. He followed that with From the Ground Up in 2012 and Songs in 2014.
