The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton film is part of Freeform’s ‘31 Nights of Halloween’

Halloween is fast approaching, and Freeform's "31 Nights of Halloween" event continues with programming that includes witches, dinosaurs, monsters and other creepy creatures. It started Oct. 1 and runs through the 31st, ending with a Hocus Pocus marathon beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Halloween.

Hocus Pocus, which airs at other times throughout the month, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, Winifred, Sarah and Mary, who die in 1693 Salem, Mass., but are resurrected in 1993. They plot to suck out the souls of all of Salem's children and chaos ensues.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas marks its 25th anniversary Oct. 29. It also airs throughout the rest of the month, and specifically at 2:20 p.m. today. The 1993 stop-motion animated musical fantasy tells the story of Jack Skellington, a resident as well as the king of "Halloween Town." He stumbles through a portal to "Christmas Town" and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences. The principal voice cast includes Danny Elfman, who wrote the songs and the score, and provides the voice of Jack; Chris Sarandon; Catherine O'Hara; and Paul Reubens.

Other movies airing this week include: Maleficent; The Witches of Eastwick; Monster House; Hotel Transylvania; Haunted Mansion; Dark Shadows; The Addams Family; ParaNorman; Dark Shadows; The Goonies; Monsters, Inc.; and Monsters University.
