Here’s your chance to Run Two Rivers Park like a bat out of ...

Lil' Monsters will dash a quarter mile along paved trails in Two Rivers Park at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, followed at 5 by a stampede of Creep 'N Crawl 10K runners and, 15 minutes after them, 5K racers.

Organized by the spirit squad at Little Rock Parks and Recreation's Little Rock Marathon, these footraces are meant to be family-friendly fun, with costumes encouraged; but only the kiddie dash is a "fun run."

Racers will be chip-timed on the 3.1- and 6.2-mile courses, with an awards ceremony to honor the fastest three male and female finishers at 7:30. Other race awards will go three deep in five-year age divisions from 0-9 to 80 and older, but those will be mailed to the winners — after the "ghost" results come in.

You can register as a ghost for $35 and run the distance at some other place and time. Online registration -- $40 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K and $15 for the Dash — is through a link at littlerockmarathon.com.

Race-day registration ($50, $40 and $20) will be accepted in the park from 3 to 4:45 p.m., cash or check only.

Racers also can compete in a costume contest with solo and group categories for children and adults.

The park gets dark, so flashlights, lanterns or head lamps are advised. Baby joggers or strollers are allowed on the dash and 5K courses, but not the 10K; and none of the races is for pets, roller blades, skateboards or bikes.

Creep 'N Crawl is the first race in the new Run Local series. To qualify for a special medal, complete Creep 'N Crawl and also the new Ugly Sweater Race 5K on Dec. 16 at Outlets of Little Rock, and either the Little Rock Marathon or Half Marathon on March 3 downtown.
