HELENA-WEST HELENA 45, CROSSETT 25
CROSSETT -- Helena-West Helena Central (7-2, 4-2 8-4A) scored 20 unanswered points in the final 4:46 of the first half to break free from Crossett (4-5, 2-4).
The Cougars got a 6-yard scoring run from Armonie Calhoun to cap off a 7-play, 51-yard drive midway through the second quarter to lead 18-7.
After a Kylaun Anderson interception, Helena-West Helena scored again on Calhoun's 6-yard run. John Oliver's two-point conversion run made it 26-7 with 3:15 to go in the second quarter.
Demarcus Sheard scored on a 18-yard run with 1:48 remaining in the half to give the Cougars a 32-7 lead.
Crossett cut the lead to 32-13 on a 33-yard run by Jaylen Lawson with 7:33 left in the third.
Helena-West Helena's Joseph Robinson scored on an 85-yard interception return to give the Cougars a 38-13 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Cougars then got a 50-yard interception return from Ahmaud Jones for a 45-13 advantage.
Crossett added a pair of late scores to set the final margin.
