Class 4A
Shiloh Christian 35, Trumann 7
Eli Reece fired a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Saints to a nonconference road win Friday night.
Reece was 12 of 18 passing for 201 yards and overcame a pick-six in the first quarter to lead Shiloh Christian (1-1). Reece connected with Truitt Tollett on the Saints' opening drive for a 12-yard touchdown, then connected with Tollett again in the second quarter on a 30-yard scoring strike. Tollett caught 8 passes for 138 yards in the win.
Jaret Russ rushed for 96 yards and scored one touchdown, and Jaiden Henry added a 57-yard punt return for a score and a 1-yard scoring run.
Huntsville 21, Berryville 14
The Eagles forced a late turnover near their own goal line to preserve a narrow road win and ruin the debut of Berryville's new stadium.
Slayter Watkins rushed for 79 yards on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns for the Eagles (2-0). Watkins' 34-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter helped Huntsville overcome a 14-13 deficit.
Sean McCone also fired a touchdown pass to Cyrus Cross for the Eagles.
Richard Heithold completed 5 of 8 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score for Berryville (1-1). Brett Parsons added 160 yards on 14 carries, including a 61-yard run.
Lincoln 40, Park Hill (Okla.) Keys 7
Caleb Lloyd completed 17 of 29 passes for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Lincoln past Park Hill.
Christian Sellers rushed for 93 yards while Sterling Morphis added 5 catches for 76 yards. Levi Wright caught 6 passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolves (2-0), who led 33-0 at halftime.
Waldron 54, Paris 28
Waldron rolled up 435 yards rushing on 51 attempts to power past Paris.
Sophomore quarterback Braden Williams led the way with 95 yards rushing on 11 carries. Jarrod Star added 63 yards and three touchdowns while Caden Fuller had 61 yards rushing for the Bulldogs.
Class 3A
Booneville 28, Pottsville 26
The Apaches failed on a potential game-tying two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter and Booneville held on for the win Friday night.
Kurtis Kemp pulled Pottsville within 28-26 with a 6-yard touchdown run, his second of the night, with 4 minutes, 48 seconds left in the fourth quarter. But quarterback Ben Jones' two-point conversion pass was incomplete.
The Bearcats (3-0) led 21-6 at halftime and 28-12 after Carson Ray's 1-yard touchdown run with 8:45 left in the third quarter before Pottsville rallied.
Ray rushed for a game-high 95 yards on 27 carries and scored two touchdowns. Andrew Robertson also added six carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns, along with a reception for 15 yards.
Mansfield 47, Lavaca 0
The Tigers improved to 3-0 for the first time in 10 years with an easy win on Friday night.
Junior quarterback Ethan Stoval threw for 102 yards and three touchdowns in only a half of action. He also rushed for 34 yards.
Will Meadows had a rushing touchdown and also recovered a fumble for a score as the Tigers came up with a pair of defensive touchdowns and led 47-0 at halftime.
Jaicy Griffin also had a pair of receiving touchdowns and returned an interception for a touchdown. Colton Stipins also forced two fumbles and had a receiving touchdown.
The Tigers are off next week before playing host to West Fork to begin 3A-1 Conference play.
Greenland 53, Mountainburg 39
The Pirates won a shootout on the road Friday as Levi Vaughn led a balanced offensive attack.
Vaughn was 10 of 10 passing for 122 yards and one touchdown and added 47 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Pirates. Jett Dennis had 16 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns rushing and one receiving score.
Lamar 34, Subiaco Academy 12
The Warriors used a dominating defense to roll over Subiaco Academy.
Jacob Parmenter scored two touchdowns for Lamar (2-0), and the Warriors held Subiaco to just 23 yards of offense and one first down in the first half. Lamar scored on every first-half possession.
Ike Felts and Jonathan Mays also scored touchdowns for Lamar.
Subiaco got on the board in the third quarter when Luke Hertlein hit Gage Lee on a 34-yard scoring strike, and Jordan Rainwater also scored for the Trojans (0-2).
Class 2A
Johnson County Westside 48, Two Rivers 8
Alex Xiong rushed for 194 yards on 21 carries and also intercepted two passes to lead the Rebels to victory.
Tanner Bryant helped open up the running game by completing 9 of 20 passes for 87 yards and 1 touchdown. Kyle Stumbaugh had 6 catches for 71 yards and a score.
STATE GAMES
Class 7A
Conway 37, Jonesboro 16
Cary McClain rushed for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries to lead Conway. McClain scored on runs of 9 and 4 yards. Sophomore Bryce Bohannon had 68 yards on 13 carries.
Coach Keith Fimple, who is in his first year with the Wampus Cats after serving as an assistant coach at Springdale Har-Ber, was pleased with how well his team ran the ball Friday.
"That's part of our philosophy. We're going to run the football and get people in the box," Fimple said. "I was proud of them to do that for four quarters."
Conway led 17-10 at halftime thanks to junior Shane Smith's 98-yard kickoff return with 1:23 left in the second quarter. Smith's score came after Jonesboro tied the game at 10-10 with 1:37 left in the second quarter on sophomore quarterback Cross Jumper's 30-yard touchdown pass to senior running back Daniel Johnson.
Marion 20, LR Parkview 19
The 2018 clash of the Patriots came down to a failed two-point conversion Friday night with 1:55 left in the game, giving Marion (2-0) a victory over Little Rock Parkview (0-2).
Marion running back Kentreal Jones was responsible for all three of his team's touchdowns.
Class 5A
Maumelle 62, Vilonia 22
Darius Thompson scored on Maumelle's opening drive and the Hornets never looked back.
Evan Robinson and Keitrich Brewer also scored for Maumelle.
Searcy 40, Batesville 15
Troy Young rushed for 3 touchdowns and quarterback Peyton Wright completed 2 touchdown passes to Tim Williams to lift the Lions (3-0) over the Pioneers.
Searcy led 12-0 despite missing extra-point attempts after Young touchdown runs of 3 yards and 1 yard in the first quarter.
Batesville cut the lead to 12-7 on Kadar Floyd's 1-yard touchdown run, but Searcy went up 19-7 on Wright's first touchdown pass to Williams, from 15 yards.
Batesville was awarded a safety just before the second quarter ended to make it 19-9 at the half.
Young's third rushing touchdown to begin the third quarter put Searcy up 26-9.
Batesville cut the lead to 26-15 on Jackson Beck's 18-yard interception return.
Searcy pulled away on a 75-yard run by Tanner Leonard in the third quarter and Wright's second TD pass to Williams, a 47-yard play in the fourth quarter.
Texas High 43, Arkansas High 35
Texas High ended Arkansas High's win streak to start the season.
The Tigers scored 30 points in the second half in the 103rd meeting of the teams Friday at Tiger Stadium in Grim Park.
Coltin Clack tossed three second-half touchdowns and ran for his second score, which turned out to the be the eventual game-winner for the Tigers. Clack finished 16 of 24 passing for 281 yards and four touchdowns, rushing for two TDs.
The Tigers (1-1) rushed 32 times for 135 yards, led by Chris Sutton's 48 yards. Tracy Cooper added 37 yards and Collius Zachery had 34 on just four carries.
Cameron Collier paced the Razorbacks' ground attack with 24 totes for 166 yards and three scores. Quarterback Sean Foreback completed 7 of 15 passes for 192 yards and also ran for a pair of TDs.
Irijah Price had three catches for 115 yards for Arkansas High (2-1), and DeJordan Mask added three grabs for 78 yards.
Class 4A
CAC 38, Baptist Prep 13
Central Arkansas Christian scored 28 of its 38 points in the second quarter.
CAC running back Krishaun Watson scored on a 21-yard run in the first quarter, a 17-yard run on the second play of the second quarter, and on a 52-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Palmer Gilbrecht with 1:59 remaining in the second quarter on the way to a 35-6 halftime edge.
Watson scored his first touchdown with 5:34 left in the first quarter on a first-down play from the 21. He blasted over the right side and outran Baptist Prep defenders, putting the Mustangs up 7-0.
Watson scored his second touchdown with 11:36 left in the second quarter.
Nashville 63, De Queen 7
Nashville exploded for four touchdowns in the second quarter and capitalized on an interception and two De Queen fumbles in the second quarter to pull away.
Carnillias Morrisson had two touchdowns on runs of 48 and 35 yards in the second quarter. Keyshawn Stewart also had two touchdowns on a 48-yard run and a 3-yard run.
Nashville quarterback Tristen Jamison threw a key 38-yard pass to De'vay Ragland to start the second quarter.
Class 2A
Hector 39, Perryville 7
Hector scored three touchdowns before and after Perryville's lone score to beat the Mustangs.
Hector led 20-0 at halftime before Perryville cut the deficit to 20-7 at the outset of the second half.
Hector finished the scoring with three third-quarter touchdowns, including a 74-yard touchdown play off a screen pass to Ty Day.
A fumble recovery led to Hector's first touchdown, with the Wildcats scoring on their third offensive play after the turnover.
Rison 41, Brinkley 6
Jalen Henry accounted for 3 touchdowns, Malik Chavis scored 3 touchdowns and Rison (2-0) was awarded victory at halftime when rain and lightning moved in.
Henry threw touchdown passes to Rashawn Martin and Chavis, and then rushed 30 yards for a score against Brinkley (0-1).
Chavis scored on runs of 40 and 30 yards to go along with a touchdown reception.
Fountain Lake 40, HS Lakeside 27
Ahman Johnson combined for 183 offensive yards and four touchdowns for the Cobras (2-0).
Andrew Roberson split time with Colson Simpson for 173 yards and the remaining two touchdowns for Fountain Lake.
