Woman dies in Washington County fire

FAYETTEVILLE -- A woman died in a mobile home fire Friday night in Washington County.

A neighbor called 911 after seeing a thick black cloud coming from the mobile home at 2846 Double Springs Road in Fayetteville, said Mike Oxford, Wheeler fire chief.

The Wheeler Fire Department is about a mile away from the location. The house was engulfed when firefighters arrived, Oxford said.

The woman was found dead in the house, Oxford said. Her name hasn't been released.

No one else was in the home.

Wheeler was assisted by Wedington, Tontitown and Fayetteville fire departments.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The body is being taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
