Authorities: 11-year-old boy dies weeks after being hit by pickup in Little Rock

An 11-year-old child who was hit by a pickup in Little Rock last month was taken off life support and died Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

The boy had been injured in a wreck the afternoon of Aug. 25, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

Authorities said that 42-year-old Dwayne Edward Randolph was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado south on John Barrow Road in Little Rock when the boy and two of his siblings tried to cross the street shortly before 5 p.m.

Randolph braked and steered the truck to the right but still hit the child, the report states.

The boy was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the report shows. Police Department spokesman Lt. Michael Ford did not identify the child Friday.

Conditions were listed as clear at the time of the wreck.

At least 357people have died in crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary data.
