Police: 2 Little Rock homes hit with gunfire while children inside

Two Little Rock homes were struck by gunfire last week while children were inside, police reports show, but no one was injured.

A 30-year-old woman and four children were inside a house in the 4600 block of West Charles Bussey Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday when the woman heard gunfire, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

The woman said that she, three boys aged 9, 2 and 1 and a baby girl were inside when shots were fired into the home, the report states. The woman didn’t hear a vehicle speed off or see anything outside, as she was afraid to look out the window, she said.

Police noted they found bullet holes in the north side of the home and shell casings in the road north of the house.

A residence in the 9500 block of South Heights Road was hit around 10:30 p.m. Friday while a 46-year-old man and his 12-year-old daughter were inside, according to a separate report.

Gunfire hit the girl’s bedroom while her father was asleep, police wrote. The child told authorities she was too scared to call police while her father was sleeping, so officers were not called until around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said a bullet came from the southwest and hit the south wall of the home, exiting through the east wall. The child said she thought the shooter was a teenage neighbor, according to the report. Authorities did not find bullet casings.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the reports.
