1 in custody after gun fired at central Arkansas post office, police say

The Conway Police Department said a man was arrested Saturday after at least one shot was fired at a local post office.

No one was injured in the incident, which police initially described as an apparent robbery attempt.

Investigators identified the suspect as 46-year-old Stephen Potts. He remained in the Faulkner County jail on Sunday with charges listed as aggravated assault, residential burglary, carrying a loaded weapon in a publicly-owned facility and criminal mischief.

LaTresha Woodruff, spokeswoman for the agency, said Potts fired a gun at the post office at 1060 Hogan Lane, but didn't hit anyone. Potts was arrested at the scene.

Woodruff said it happened shortly before noon.
