WEDNESDAY’S GAME

CHARLESTON 6, PRAIRIE GROVE 1

Kaden Benge belted the first pitch he saw for a two-run home run and gave Charleston the lead for good in its non-conference win over Prairie Grove. Benge’s home run followed a Dean Lea walk in the second inning, then Charleston (11-2) added solo tallies in the third and fourth and two runs in the sixth. Hunter Kengla had three hits for the Tigers, including a double, while Joe Huck had two hits and drove in two runs. Breckon Ketter pitched 4 1/3 innings and picked up the win, while Kyle Fidler took the loss for Prairie Grove (7-8).

TUESDAY’S GAMES

GREENWOOD 12-6, VILONIA 4-7

Colton Sagely went 4-for-4 with a double and two triples to help the Bulldogs win the opener and manage a doubleheader split. Sagely’s run-scoring triple in the fourth inning snapped a 3-3 tie and the Bulldogs (10-7) added another run and blew the game open with a seven-run fifth. Four different Greenwood players drove in two runs apiece. Nick Phelps picked up the complete-game victory. He allowed four runs (three earned), struck out three and walked six. In the nightcap, Greenwood scored a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh to force extra innings but lost in 11 innings. Sagely had three hits in game two, drove in a run and scored three times.

SILOAM SPRINGS 8-0, GREENBRIER 7-8

A.J. Serrano had three hits and four RBIs in game one as Siloam Springs defeated Greenbrier 8-7. Serrano’s two-run single in the sixth inning allowed Siloam Springs (7-10, 5-1 5A-West Conference) to rally for the lead. Siloam Springs led 6-2 early, but Greenbrier scored five unanswered runs. Colin Evers added three hits for the Panthers, while Elijah Coffey drew four walks and scored three runs. Taylor Pool had a pair of sacrifice flies. Tanner Broyles picked up the win in relief for Siloam Springs. Greenbrier (11-2, 4-2) won the second game 8-0 behind a 10-strikeout performance from Andrew Johnson, limiting Siloam Springs to four hits.

LAMAR 6, PARIS 5

Wyatt Ruble hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning as Lamar came back to defeat Paris in a 3A-4 Conference game at Lamar. Lamar (8-3) scored three runs in the seventh after Paris had taken the lead with a four-run sixth. Matt Higby had two hits, while Jacob Key drove in two runs for the Warriors. Garett Schneider had three of Lamar’s 10 hits.

CHARLESTON 12, WALDRON 2

Charleston erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning and pulled away from Waldron for a 3A-1 West Conference victory at Charleston. Brayden Ross held Waldron to four hits over five innings and struck out 10. He helped his cause with a pair of doubles and drove in three runs. Hunter Kengla and Drew Dooly each had two hits and drove in two runs for the Tigers (10-2).

LITTLE ROCK CATHOLIC 4, FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 3

Jordan McCuin’s two-out single scored Chris Gray as Little Rock Catholic walked-off Southside in 6A-Central action Tuesday. Southside rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Colton McBride led off with a walk and Matthew Schilling singled. After Braiden Partin moved the runners up on a sacrifice, McBride scored on a wild pitch and Schilling scored on a Catholic error. Hayden Blythe singled in another run. Catholic scored one run in the sixth to make it 3-2, and two more in the seventh for the win. Pierce Althoff earned the win in relief of starter Henry Coppens, who went 5.1 innings and struck out 9. Partin took the loss for Southside (7-9, 1-3).

NORTH LITTLE ROCK 13, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 2

The Chargin Wildcats scored all the runs it needed in the first inning in a run-rule win Tuesday. Luke Rice was 5-for-5 with 5 RBIs for NLR. Kadin Hyatt and William Sanders had 2 hits each for Northside. Grant Shahan pitched a complete game for the win, striking out 9. Khaden Washington took the loss for Northside.

WEDNESDAY’S GAME

BENTONVILLE WEST 10, VAN BUREN 0

Elise Sokolsky threw a no-hitter and struck out 14 of the 16 Van Buren batters she faces as West rolled to a 6A-West Conference win and handed the Lady Pointers their first league loss at Wolverine Athletic Complex. Sokolsky struck out the first eight batters she faced before she hit Maddie Mills with a pitch for Van Buren’s only baserunner. She threw 69 pitches over five innings, with 51 of them for strikes. West (11-1, 3-1) scored at least a run in every inning, including a six-run ouburst in the fourth to force the 10-run rule. Ryen Rassi had two hits and drove in two runs, while Carlee Durham was the only other Lady Wolverine with two hits.

CHARLESTON 10, SCRANTON 9

Emma McKinney’s two-run single capped a six-run rally in the bottom of the seventh as Charleston slipped past Scranton in a nonconference game. McKinney and Rylee Ross each had two hits and two RBIs, while Sidney Tate also drove in two runs.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

GRAVETTE 10, HARRISON 0

Caily Kildow threw a no-hitter and Hannah Cole belted a grand slam as Gravette defeated Harrison in 4A-1 Conference action. Kildow struck out 11 and walked none in a 78-pitch performance. Cole hit her grand slam during a six-run third to help Gravette pull away. Leadoff hitter Gabby Scott had three hits and scored three times, while Lexi Gerner and Shylee Morrison each had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Harrison hurt its cause with six errors.

CHARLESTON 5, WALDRON 3

Sierra Montgomery and Jocelyn Robison had back-to-back doubles during a four-run fifth as Charleston defeated Waldron in a 3A-1 West Conference game. Montgomery belted a two-run double to give Charleston a 3-2 lead, then scored on Robison’s double. Robison later scored on Kimberly Byrd’s sacrifice fly. Montgomery and Robison finished with two hits and two RBIs apiece. Rylee Ross threw a four-hitter for Charleston (8-3).

BERRYVILLE 8, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 5

The Bobcats scored a pair of fifth-inning runs to edge Providence Academy on Tuesday. Eve Linz belted a three-run home run for Berryville, and Lexi Woods was 3-for-4. Taylor Kelley was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Carson Griggs was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs for Providence, and Camile Backston was also 2-for-4.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK 10, FORT SMITH NORTHSIDE 1

The Charging Wildcats banged 14 hits to roll over Northside in 6A-Central action. Madi Bobbitt was 3-for-5 with a double and 3 RBIs for NLR. Lauren Lester was 2-for-4 with a home run and triple and Lily Douglas was 3-for-4. Cailin Massey was 3-for-4 for Northside and Hannah Entrekin added a triple.

PEA RIDGE 12, PRAIRIE GROVE 2

Bailey Johnson was 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs to lead the Black-hawks to a 4A-1 win. Blakelee Winn was 3-for-4 and Josey Taylor was 2-for-3. Raegen Rochier homered for Prairie Grove. Aiden Dayberry earned the win in the circle with 4 strikeouts.

GREENBRIER 19-13, SILOAM SPRINGS 0-0

Greenbrier took the first game 19-0 in three innings before winning the second game 13-0 in five innings. Siloam Springs dropped to 0-9 on the season.

BOYS

VAN BUREN 4, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 3

The Pointers kept pace in the 6A-West with a road win Tuesday. Isaac Delafuente scored two goals for Van Buren (4-1 6A-West). Adalberto Flores and Kylan Almond scored one goal each. Har-Ber fell to 2-3 in league play with the loss.

SILOAM SPRINGS 2, RUSSELLVILLE 1

Eli Jackson and Junior Garza scored second half goals, both on assists from Christian Marroquin, and Siloam Springs defeated the defending state champions at Cyclone Stadium. It was the first meeting between the teams since Russellville defeated Siloam Springs 4-1 in the 6A state finals last May. Goalkeeper Wyatt Church had 15 saves for the Panthers (8-4, 4-2 5A-West).

GIRLS

SILOAM SPRINGS 2, RUSSELLVILLE 0

Siloam Springs scored two second half goals from Hadley Crenshaw and Karen Flores to defeat the Lady Cyclones at Cyclone Stadium in Russellville. Laura Morales assisted on Crenshaw’s goal, while Flores scored off a deflected shot from Madi Race. With the win, Siloam Springs (7-5 5-1) remained in a three-way tie for first place in the 5A-West Conference with Greenbrier and Little Rock Christian.
