Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

CSX Corp., the railroad, a profit of $834 million, or $1.02 per share, up from $695 million, or 78 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 5 percent to $3.01 billion. Shares rose 2 cents to close Tuesday at $75.89.

Netflix Inc., the Internet video service, a profit of $344.1 million, or 76 cents a share, up from $290 million, or 64 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was $4.52 billion, up from $3.7 billion a year ago. Shares rose $10.59 to close at $359.46.

Johnson & Johnson, the maker of Tylenol, a profit of $3.75 billion, or $1.39 a share, down from $4.37 billion, or $1.60 a share, a year ago. Revenue fell about 4 percent to $20.03 billion. Shares rose $1.50 to $138.02.

United Airlines, a profit of $292 million, or $1.09 a share, up from $145 million, or 51 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 6 percent to $9.59 billion. Shares rose 65 cents to close at $85.17.
