Dallas’ Linda Gray charms participants of annual Bolo Bash luncheon

Actress Linda Gray -- well known for her role as Sue Ellen Ewing, the long-suffering wife of J.R. Ewing on Dallas -- was the charming and funny guest at the 30th annual Bolo Bash luncheon April 17 for the Baptist Health Foundation.

The beautiful Gray, who does not look anywhere near her age of 78, charmed the crowd during a question-answer session with local celebrity Lisa Fischer. Gray confirmed a picture of her legs was used for the 1967 movie poster and soundtrack album cover for The Graduate. She was paid $25 for the photo.

She also talked of her longtime friendship with Larry Hagman, who played J.R. Gray said she was there when Hagman died in November 2012. And she talked about how excited she was when she learned who would be her TV husband.

"I had a crush on him as Major Nelson," she said, referring to his role on I Dream of Jeannie.

Gray also said she is still working. "I think the day we retire is when these feet don't touch the ground."

Katherine Blackmon-Carroll chaired the event. During the single-item live auction, Blackmon-Carroll auctioned a strand of pearls that appraised for $20,000 and were donated by her mother, Bonnie Blackmon. The pearls sold for $6,500.

Proceeds from the event will go toward funding nursing scholarships.
