Little Rock woman facing drug, gun charges

A Little Rock woman was arrested Wednesday night after drugs and a firearm reportedly were found in her vehicle, officers said.

Officers with the Little Rock Police Department said they took Haymyah Envy McClain, 18, into custody at 18 Corporate Hill Drive after she tried to flee from a traffic stop. Officers said they found a pistol, a glass smoking device and about a gram of methamphetamine in her possession.

McClain was charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor fleeing on foot. She was in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Fight led to arrest, VA officers report

A North Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday morning on accusations that he tried to fight officers who were attempting to search his vehicle, a report said.

Officers with the Veterans Affairs Police Department at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock said they approached Orville Wilson Street, 51, at 4300 W. Seventh St. after they noticed he had an open Corona beer bottle in his vehicle. Officers said Street was taken into custody after he began to fight them when they tried to search his vehicle for more beer. Brass knuckles, an undisclosed drug, and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle, the report said.

Street was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree battery. He also was charged with misdemeanor drinking in public, two counts of possessing prohibited weapons, and resisting arrest. He was in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night in lieu of $15,000 bond.

Fanny pack yields gun; charges filed

A Little Rock man was arrested by Veterans Affairs Department officers after a gun was found in his fanny pack, a report said.

Officers with the Veterans Affairs Department at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock said they stopped a vehicle that Eltavion Pearson, 21, was in because they had received reports that the occupants were smoking marijuana in the parking lot. Officers said they searched Pearson and found a loaded pistol in a fanny pack strung across his chest, along with an oxycodone pill.

Pearson was charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a controlled substance, along with misdemeanor counts of carrying a weapon and criminal trespassing. He was in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night, but a bail amount had not been set.
