Man found dead inside residence

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in a house in the southern part of the county, department spokesman Lt. Cody Burk said.

Deputies were sent around 5:20 p.m. Thursday to investigate a report of shots being fired on Wilkerson Drive, which is a private road that runs off Colonel Glenn Road, Burk said.

"When deputies arrived they found a deceased male inside the house," he said. "We are talking to neighbors at the scene to determine if anybody knows what happened."

Though he did not disclose the victim's identity, Burk said the victim was a white male in his early 20s and appeared to have a gunshot wound.

Burk said officers believe they have an identity for the victim, but they were waiting for the state Crime Laboratory to confirm it and determine the cause of death.

"We are expecting to be able to release more information soon," he said.
