BENTONVILLE -- The Northwest Arkansas Design Excellence Program will help with a new playground at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, according to a news release.
The program also will help a 100-acre park near Southwest Eighth and I streets, according to the release. Plans for the park were announced Dec. 6.
"The Design Excellence Program is transforming how we use, experience and interact with public buildings and spaces," said Karen Minkel, home region program director for the Walton Family Foundation. The foundation sponsors the design program.
The design program will provide a grant for a collaborative playscape -- a playground with an integrated design of equipment -- between Crystal Bridges and the Scott Family Amazeum. The space will be a cohesive environment of learning and play for visitors of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, according to the release.
Both projects are part of the foundation's ongoing effort to expand access to outdoor offerings in Northwest Arkansas.
The Design Excellence Program was created in 2015 to promote the highest level of design in the development of future public buildings and spaces in Benton and Washington counties, according to the foundation's website.
