A SNAZZY CHURCH SOCIAL

Second Bishop's Soiree to help benefit mentees

Hebrews 10:25 in the Good Book cautions against church members neglecting to gather together and encourage one another. For the second year, an area church hosted an event that enabled attendees to gather for some relaxed fellowship and fun.

The second Bishop's Soiree -- a semiformal event -- took place Dec. 6 at the Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled Multipurpose Center in Little Rock and was hosted by Brenda and Bishop Kenneth Robinson of Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church and Robinson Mortuary. Portions of the proceeds from the event were earmarked for the Above The Bar Foundation, which mentors children, youth and teenagers.

Guests were announced at the entrance, where they strolled a red carpet before taking their seats. Later, they dined on light fare that included chicken pasta, meatballs, fruit and veggies, and cheesecake bites. On tap was stand-up comedy by Elton "Need'Mo Sho'Do" White -- and some added comedy, compliments of the Rev. Ulysses Robinson III -- as well as dancing to music by Jason Talbert, also known as Mr. JT Musiq, and his band, SynrG.

Door prizes were also given, along with rewards for best-dressed single and couple and the winner of a sing-off.
