Blackwell, Corner project wins honor

The Shelby Farms Park project in Memphis, Tenn., a collaboration between Marlon Blackwell Architects and James Corner Field Operations, earned a 2019 Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects.

This was one of four projects honored in the Regional and Urban Design category, which recognizes the best in urban design, regional and city planning and community development.

Marlon Blackwell Architects worked with James Corner Field Operations, a New York City-based landscape architect firm, to develop seven structures within the 195-acre Heart of the Park at Shelby Farms Park.

Blackwell is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He is the E. Fay Jones Chair in Architecture and a distinguished professor in the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas. His professional firm is based in Fayetteville.

Climb Bentonville plans open house

Climb Bentonville is hosting a grand opening celebration from 2-7 p.m. Saturday at its new location on 801 S.W. 14th St. in Bentonville.

The 20,500-square-foot gym has 16,500 square feet of climbing terrain for everyone from beginners to experts. The gym also offers yoga, movement, cross-training classes and cardiovascular and weight equipment.

Climb Bentonville opened to founding members on Jan. 18.

Three businesses wins safety awards

Pratt & Whitney, PSD, Springdale, received a Four Million Man Hour Safety Award. The firm's 207 employees worked 4 million hours without a lost day away from work due to a work-related injury or illness between Jan. 29, 2009 and Jan. 29, 2019.

Mars Petcare, a division of Mars Inc., in Fort Smith also received a Four Million Man Hour Safety Award. The firm's 322 employees worked 4 million hours without a lost day away from work due to a work-related injury or illness between Dec. 29, 2011 and Jan. 26, 2019.

Sealed Air Corp., Rogers, received a Three Million Man Hour Award. The company's 230 employees worked 3 million hours without a lost day away from work due to a work-related injury or illness between Sept. 17, 2012 and Dec. 31, 2018.

The Arkansas Department of Labor, the Arkansas Insurance Department and the Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission present the award to Arkansas companies who excel in on-the-job safety
