BOXING

Silver Gloves set for Thursday

The Region 6 Silver Gloves will be held Thursday-Saturday at the North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow St.

The tournament will feature state champions from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Champions will advance to the Silver Gloves National Tournament in Independence, Mo., on Jan. 30-Feb. 2.

Bouts will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Arkansas Tech falls to East Central

R.J. Glasper scored 21 points to lead four players with at least 10 points as Arkansas Tech University lost to East Central 95-78 on Saturday in Ada, Okla.

Glasper made 5 of 15 shots from the floor and 10 of 11 free throws for the Wonder Boys (2-7, 0-6 Great American Conference).

Josiah Thomas had 17 points and 4 rebounds, Will Adler had 15 points and 4 rebounds, and Alex Brown had 14 point and 6 rebounds.

The Wonder Boys shot 37.3 percent (25 of 67) from the floor, including 11 of 28 on three-pointers, and were outrebounded 44-34.

Camron Talley had 25 points and four rebounds for East Central (7-4, 4-2), which shot 54.1 percent (33 of 61) from the floor.

SE Oklahoma wins big over Harding

Kellen Manek led Southeastern Oklahoma State (9-2, 5-2 GAC) with 22 points, and Kevin Buckingham added 18 to lead their team to a 76-55 victory over Harding University in Durant, Okla., on Saturday.

J.V. Long led Harding (5-6, 3-3) with 14 points, and J.P. Brandon added 11 points.

Harding shot 23 of 63 from the floor (36.5 percent), including 2 of 22 on three-pointers.

Henderson loses at Southern Nazarene

Jhonathan Dunn led Southern Nazarene (12-2, 5-1 GAC) to an 84-72 victory over Henderson State University on Saturday in Bethany, Okla.

Quaylon Newton added 16 points and Noah Starkey had 12 for Southern Nazarene, which shot 31 of 62 from the floor (50.0 percent) and made 15 0f 20 free throws.

Rel Johnson led Henderson State (8-5, 3-4) with 15 points and 5 rebounds, Chris Parker added 14 points and Raekwon Rogers finished with 12.

Henderson State shot 24 of 64 (37.5 percent) from the floor.

UAM wins in overtime

KJ Leisure made 1 of 2 free throws with 18 seconds left and came up with a steal with two seconds left to give the University of Arkansas at Monticello a 75-74 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday in Alva, Okla.

Leisure led the Boll Weevils (9-3, 5-1 GAC) with 25 points and three rebounds. Darnell Wright and Kwame McBean finished with 10 points.

Jack Peck led Northwestern Oklahoma State (3-9, 1-5) with 16 points.

Sul Ross State tops Ozarks

Sul Ross State University (7-8, 2-4 American Southwest Conference) pulled away from the University of the Ozarks late in the second half to pick up an 82-73 victory Saturday.

Sul Ross State made 23 of 26 free throws. Lance Gardner had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Ozarks (3-11, 2-4 ASC).

Williams Baptist falls on the road

Williams Baptist College (5-7, 2-5 American Midwest Conference) lost 78-63 to St. Louis College of Pharmacy (3-13, 2-7) on Saturday in St. Louis.

Devante Carolina led Williams Baptist with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while Briheam Anthony had 19 points and 6 rebounds.

Williams Baptist shot 34 percent from the floor while St. Louis College of Pharmacy made 47 percent of its shots.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Harding loses in overtime

Kamryn Cantwell made a layup with 1:32 left to give Southeastern Oklahoma State a 69-68 lead in overtime, and Harding University didn't score again in a 74-68 loss Saturday in Durant, Okla.

Southeastern Oklahoma's Katie Webb made two free throws with no time left in regulation to send the game to overtime.

Cantrell led Southeastern Oklahoma (7-4, 5-2 GAC) with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Webb had 18 points and nine rebounds.

Amanda Kearney led Harding (8-4, 3-3) with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Kellie Lampo had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Carissa Caples had 12 points and Peyton Padgett had nine points and 10 rebounds.

UAM wins at NW Oklahoma

Mackenzie Johnson led the University of Arkansas at Monticello (4-7, 3-3 GAC) with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Cotton Blossoms to a 88-70 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday in Alva, Okla.

Berniezha Tidwell added 15 points. Whitney O'Dell added 14 points and 4 rebounds. Dezirae King had 13 points. Chari Swift and Jaida Harden had 12 points.

The Cotton Blossoms shot 55.9 percent (33 of 59) from the floor, including 9 of 16 on three-pointers.

Kalea King led Northwestern Oklahoma (5-8, 2-4) with 18 points and five rebounds. Bailey Brown had 18 points and 12 rebounds.

SW Oklahoma blows out SAU

Hailey Tucker led Southwestern Oklahoma State (11-1, 6-0 GAC) with 28 points and 9 rebounds, and Priddy Hayden added 20 points in a 90-59 victory over Southern Arkansas University (1-11, 0-6) on Saturday in Weatherford, Okla.

Jerica Bell and Alyssa Crane led Southern Arkansas with 10 points.

East Central wins late over ATU

Lakin Preisner made two free throws with one second left to lift East Central (9-2, 4-2 GAC) to a 61-59 victory over Arkansas Tech University (5-7, 2-4) on Saturday in Ada, Okla.

After Jacie Higgins made a jumper with six seconds left to tie the game, she fouled Preisner, who made the winning free throws.

Higgins and Hannah Villines led Arkansas Tech with 17 points. Jayana Sanders had 12 points.

Maci Hanson led East Central with 11 points, while Tia Williams and Madison Rehl had 10 points.

Henderson loses at Southern Nazarene

Madeline Schroepfer led Southern Nazarene (4-8, 3-3 GAC) with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Alexus Jones added 17 points and 6 rebounds in leading Southern Nazarene to a 85-74 victory over Henderson State University (10-3, 5-2) on Saturday in Bethany, Okla.

Blu Jones led Henderson State with 16 points, while Lani Snowden had 14 points and Pink Jones had 13. Karrington Whaley had 12, and Hailey Estes finished with 10.

Southern Nazarene shot 27 of 52 (51.9 percent) from the floor, including 6 of 12 on three-pointers. Southern Nazarene outrebounded Henderson State 40-27. Henderson State shot 25 of 61 (41.0 percent) from the floor.

Lyon's winning streak snapped

Columbia College defeated Lyon College 59-51 on Saturday in Batesville, ending Lyon's 11-game winning streak.

Columbia College, which fell behind 10-0, used an 11-2 run at the start of the fourth quarter to take a 55-40 lead with 4:46 remaining.

Liz Henderson led Lyon College (11-2, 7-1 American Midwest Conference) with 16 points. Samantha French and Madison Riley had 12 and 11, respectively.

Columbia College is now 12-2 and 7-2 in conference.

Ozarks tops Sul Ross State

Delanei Stephens scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the University of the Ozarks to a 66-59 victory on Saturday against Sul Ross State in Clarksville.

University of the Ozarks (7-6, 5-1 American Southwest Conference) hit 22-of-22 from the free throw line in the win, including nine by Stephens.

Williams Baptist rallies on the road

Williams Baptist (8-4, 4-3 American Midwest Conference) scored 30 points in the fourth quarter to defeat St. Louis College of Pharmacy (5-10, 1-8) 75-67 on Saturday in St. Louis.

Williams Baptist trailed 52-45 at the start of the fourth quarter before making 8 of 16 field goals and 11 free throws and forcing 15 turnovers.

Blessing Samuel finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Ashlyn Ellis came off the bench to scored 21 points.
