If you've always wanted to see a live production of the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical Rent, but never had the chance, Fox has your back. The network is airing a live version starting at 6 p.m. today.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Rent is a loose re-imagining of Puccini's La Boheme with music, lyrics and book by Jonathan Larson. Rent is set in New York's gritty East Village. It tells the story of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams during a time of social and political turmoil, under the shadow of AIDS. The Broadway production closed on Sept. 7, 2008, after a 12-year run.
The musical stars Vanessa Hudgens (Second Act), Kiersey Clemons (Hearts Beat Loud), Brandon Victor Dixon (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert), Jordan Fisher (2017 winner of Dancing With the Stars), Brennin Hunt (Nashville), recording artist Tinashe (Dancing With the Stars) and Valentina (RuPaul's Drag Race).
