Authority marks 60th anniversary

The Little Rock Port Authority celebrated its 60th birthday with a July 8 luncheon at Robinson Center Performance Hall.

Melissa Hendricks, the authority's board chairman, welcomed guests. Mack McLarty, chairman of McLarty Associates, moderated a business discussion with Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Lance Fritz, CEO of Union Pacific Railroad.

The Little Rock Port Industrial Park is home to more than 40 businesses, and combined makes up one of Arkansas' largest manufacturing bases.

The authority was organized in 1959 to oversee the Port of Little Rock and provide intermodal transportation services connecting U.S. markets and the deep water ports of the Gulf of Mexico.
