Jason Smith and Lorraine Pascale serve as mentors to help transform eight kitchen disasters into baking masters on Food Network's five-week baking bootcamp Worst Bakers in America. It premiered at July 15 and airs at 8 p.m. Mondays.

Based on the recruits' performance and progress in a series of timed baking challenges, they will be narrowed down each week until only two are left standing to face an intense battle. One will rise to the top and be chosen most improved to win the $25,000 grand prize.

Each week the recruits will first be tested in skill drills and games such as guessing surprise baking ingredients based on touch, tasting wild confections in blind taste tests and decorating cakes in a speed relay race. Over the five weeks the competitors will also be challenged to create multi-colored mirror glazed cakes, make pate a choux pastries and design 3-D animal cakes. The worst baker from each team that crumbles under the pressure will be eliminated.

The season ends Aug. 19 when the two remaining recruits put their new baking skills to the test as they create a three-course dessert menu to impress special guest judges Dan Langan, Thiago Silva and Melba Wilson.
