Sarah Elizabeth Theriot - Steven Craig Mehl

Sarah Elizabeth Theriot and Steven Craig Mehl were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in New Orleans with the Rev. Mark Anthony Toups officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Sharon and Walter Peter Theriot of White Hall. Her grandparents are Bonnie and Willis Bonvillain of Thibodaux, La., and Betty and the late Kenneth Melancon and Beryl and the late William Theriot, all of Houma.

Drs. Deanie and Kurt Mehl of Fort Smith are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Barbara and Jack Mehl of Bradenton, Fla. and the late Carol and Frederick Stevenson of Wilmington, Del.

Large arrangements of white hydrangea, ivory roses and white stock decorated the altar. Nuptial music was by organist Thomas Wright, violinist Carrie Telthorst and vocalist Aaron Ambeau. Scriptures were read by Dr. Natalie Derise and Kimberly Hebert. Ryland Walt read Prayers of the Faithful. Gift bearers were Laura Kaehler of Washington and Melissa Murphy of Denver. John Maus IV and Kathryn Theriot, sister of the bride, were Eucharistic ministers. Sophia Gerrald of Chicago and Lara Mertens of London served as program attendants.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory organza embellished with floral lace appliques. She carried a cascade of ivory roses, white peonies and and seeded eucalyptus with her maternal great-grandmother's rosary tucked into the bouquet.

Kathryn Ann Theriot of Little Rock served as her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caroline Damron of Salt Lake City; and Dr. Jennifer Miller of Houston and Jessica Reasons of South Bend, Ind., sisters of the groom. They wore full-length chiffon gowns in English rose and carried smaller versions of the bride's bouquet. Flower girl was Sutton Reasons of South Bend, niece of the groom. Honorary ring bearers were Edward Miller of Houston and Sloan Reasons of South Bend, both nephews of the groom.

The father of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were Dr. Harrison Lowder of Little Rock, Hogan Miller of Houston and Stuart Reasons of South Bend. Guests were seated by Dylan Botteicher, Dr. Nikhil Kamath and Dr. Sean Parham, all of Little Rock; Andrew Ferguson of Los Angeles; Ryan Finnegan of Chicago; Charles Hamilton Jr. of Joelton, Tenn.; Patrick Healy of Chicago; Christopher Huffstetler of Washington; Nicholas Lensing of Conway; and Robert Richardson of Richmond, Va.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Riverview Room in Jax Brewery. Tables held arrangements of white hydrangea, ivory and white roses, spray roses and trailing eucalyptus. Music was by MoJEAUX of New Orleans.

The bride is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. She has a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and will soon begin an obstetrics gynecology residency at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in biomedical engineering. He graduated with a medical degree from UAMS and is a surgical resident at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

After a honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Houston.
