Making fun of God

I don't normally read John Brummett's column but for some reason I did Thursday. I have to say I am extremely disappointed in this paper and him for his behavior toward Christians and President Trump. I find his attitude toward prayer and Christian beliefs very disheartening. It is obvious to me he thinks Christians are silly for believing that prayer works. He's making fun of my religion and it is unacceptable.

He has attacked President Trump for stopping at a church and getting prayed for. Last Sunday was a day of prayer for the president. These are our beliefs as Christians because we believe in God's word. Apparently Brummett doesn't or he would not have mocked and made fun of us.

Many people believe in Christ as the son of God and are saved because of it. The Bible gives instructions to Christ's followers on how to live out our lives here on Earth. All you have to do is read it. If Brummett has a problem with anyone being prayed for, he needs to keep it to himself. I wonder how many times Brummett has stopped at a church and been prayed for.

Anyone can come to know Christ exists, but they have to believe and ask. Brummett chooses to make fun of Christians and because of that, he is making fun of God. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

Disparaging cartoon

Every generation produces its heroes and hacks, whether it be the "Greatest Generation" or one of the latter ones born over the past three decades. This fact seems to have been lost on the clueless editors at your paper who selected the June 7 editorial cartoon by Michael Ramirez. It depicted "The Greatest Generation" readying to storm the beaches at Normandy juxtaposed with "The Latest Generation," that being a young man wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the word "Socialism" while asking his mom for a safe place.

Maybe the cartoonist and your editors have forgotten that our country has been at war continuously since 2001. That being the case, who do you think is serving in today's armed forces? That would be the brave men and women of the generation you chose to disparage with that garbage cartoon.
