SLIM PICKINGS: We try the new Diet Coke flavors

WHAT: Diet Coke Blueberry Acai and Strawberry Guava flavors

STATS: Cans (12 ounces) contain zero calories and zero fat, carbohydrate, sugar, fiber and protein grams. We found one flavor in stock at Kroger, 8415 W. Markham St., Little Rock, and the other at Kroger, 16105 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. More information at dietcoke.com.

THE SKINNY: After Diet Coke introduced Twisted Mango, Zesty Blood Orange, Ginger Lime and Feisty Cherry flavors last year, we thought they had exhausted the whole produce section.

But the brand has found a few more fruits to toy with. The newest flavors, Blueberry Acai and Strawberry Guava, are available in eight-packs of slim, 12-ounce cans.

To me, the Blueberry Acai tastes berry bad. It doesn't taste like blueberry. It might or might not taste like acai — however that's supposed to taste or be pronounced. It just tastes like ... Diet Pepsi.

The Strawberry Guava is slightly better, though the flavor reminded us of drinking Diet Coke while wearing Bonne Bell Strawberry Lip Smacker balm.

While we appreciate a passion for innovation, we're beginning to think Diet Coke has gone bananas.

Hey, there's another idea ... Passion Fruit Banana!
