Police: Man, 76, dies in central Arkansas crash

A 76-year-old man died Monday after he crashed into a tree near an intersection in Garland County, troopers said.

The man, whose identity had not been released Tuesday, was driving east in Hot Springs on Trivista Right Street near the Talisman Street intersection shortly before 10:30 a.m. when his car left the road and hit a tree, according to a preliminary report by state police.

Authorities said the crash victim died at the scene.

Conditions on the road at the time of the wreck were described as clear and dry.

The fatal crash was the second posted to the Arkansas State Police's fatal wreck summary page in less than 24 hours in which a vehicle crashed into a tree.

Anne Carrol, 27, of Fayetteville, died after her vehicle struck a tree near Winslow in Washington County, according to a preliminary report of that crash.

Preliminary figures indicate at least 153 people have died on Arkansas roads so far this year.
