Travelers fall despite home run by Knapp

Center fielder Aaron Knapp went 2 for 3, including his third home run of the season, to lead the Arkansas Travelers in an 8-2 loss to the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday in front of 4,601 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Knapp's home run, which came on a 2-2 pitch and went over the right-field wall, tied the game at 1-1 with one out in the third inning.

Tulsa scored its first run in the second inning on an RBI single by Jared Walker, then took the lead for good in the bottom of the third when DJ Peters scored on an error. Keibert Ruiz hit a home run -- his second of the season -- to left field on an 0-1 pitch that pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fourth.

The Travelers got an RBI single from Donnie Walton in the fifth inning that scored Joseph Odom, who had walked, to cut the lead to 3-2. But the Drillers got that run back in the bottom of the inning when Chris Parmelee drew a bases-loaded walk with one out for a 4-2 lead.

Tulsa then used 2 walks, 2 wild pitches thrown by Travs reliever Robinson Leyer and RBI singles from Parmelee and Angelo Mora to take a 7-2 lead in the seventh inning. Ruiz added an RBI single in the eighth inning that scored Cristian Santana for an 8-2 lead.

Left fielder Kyle Lewis went 2 for 4 for the Travelers, who finished with 6 hits and left 5 runners on base. Starter Ricardo Sanchez (4-3, 3.68 ERA) took the loss after allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts over 4 innings.

Justin De Fratus (2-2, 5.86 ERA) got the victory after allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts over 6 innings. Yordy Cabrera earned his first save after allowing 1 hit with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over the final 3 innings.
