Buffett information posted on website

Tailgating information, parking maps, arena policies and other information pertaining to the Jimmy Buffett concert at Verizon Arena on June 6 has been added to North Little Rock's city government website, nlr.ar.gov.

Parking will be $50 per car inside the seawall by the Arkansas River. Tailgating will only be permitted south of the seawall, according to the information. The only public entrance to the tailgating activities will be from the Olive Street and Riverfront Drive intersection.

Verizon Arena is a 7-minute walk from the tailgating area, according to a map.

The North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring one tailgating event for the concert from 4-7 p.m. that is scheduled to include live music, food, beverages and networking opportunities. Tickets for that event are $20 in advance and available at the chamber office, 100 Main St., North Little Rock. More information is available from the chamber at (501) 372-5959.

Planned food hall to be nontraditional

A planned restaurant to be adjacent to the under-construction Argenta Plaza in downtown North Little Rock won't be a traditional sit-down eatery, Mayor Joe Smith has said.

The Power+Ice Food Hall is to contain six different restaurant concepts, featuring open kitchens with a central bar area for beverages. More information is available at powerandice.com.

Groundbreaking on the building is to be this summer, Smith said at the May 13 City Council meeting. Opening of the food hall is projected for the spring of 2020, according to the website.

The food hall is to complement the city-owned, $5.36 million Argenta Plaza, 510 Main St., projected to open by late fall. The 42,000-square-foot public plaza is to feature jetted fountains and a 20-foot-high, 50-foot-long cascading water wall.

Smith has compared the food hall concept to the larger Legacy Hall in Plano, Texas, that features a food hall with 24 food stalls operated by local chefs offering different types of cuisine. Legacy Hall also includes live entertainment, a beer garden and a craft brewery.

Holiday to usher in opening of pools

Memorial Day will mark the opening of public swimming pools at North Little Rock community centers, the city Parks and Recreation Department announced.

Pools will be open on the holiday at North Heights Community Center, 4801 Allen St., and at Sherman Park Community Center, 624 N. Beech St. Hours for both are noon-5 p.m.

Costs are $1 for members and $2 for non-members.

Regular pool days will be Tuesday-Saturday through the summer.

Maritime museum summer hours set

Summer hours for the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum will be effective between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays, the city Parks and Recreation Department announced.

Hours will be 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The maritime museum, 120 Riverfront Park Drive, on the east side of the Main Street Bridge over the Arkansas River downtown, is home to the World War II-era submarine Razorback and the Pearl Harbor-surviving tug Hoga, the latter of which is designated a National Historic Landmark.

The museum also has a collection of information and exhibits on the Razorback, the Hoga, the battleship Arkansas, the missile cruiser Arkansas and collections from the Arkansas River Historical Society, that includes the history of the Arkansas River.

Council meetings get new TV home

Residents who want to keep up with North Little Rock City Council meetings will now tune to Comcast Cable Channel 11 instead of Channel 4, or they can watch a live-streaming on the city's Facebook page @cityofnorthlittlerock.

New audio-visual equipment has been installed in the council chambers as of the last council meeting, May 13.

The City Council's next meeting has moved to 6 p.m. Tuesday because city offices are closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. The council regularly meets at 6 p.m. every second and fourth Monday of each month.
