Homeless man gets 10 years in guilty plea to bank robbery

A homeless man who robbed a North Little Rock bank branch in March has accepted a 10-year prison sentence.

Sentencing papers filed Monday by deputy prosecutor Sharon Strong show that Wendell Jermaine Frost pleaded guilty before Pulaski County Circuit Judge Barry Sims to felony robbery and theft.

The 10-year sentence negotiated by defense attorney Amy Jackson is the minimum penalty. Frost faced up to 30 years.

Frost, formerly of Oklahoma, was arrested by North Little Rock police and federal marshals at 3816 W. Roosevelt Road in Little Rock within two hours of the March 7 robbery and has been jailed since.

According to a police report, Simmons Bank teller Janet Jarrett, 38, told police that a man walked up to her window, put a Bible on the counter and told her to "Give me all you got," and warned her against slipping him any dye packs.

Jarrett said she gave the robber some cash out of the till and that he left after telling bank employees not to call police for 30 minutes or he would be back.

Jarrett described the thief as wearing a dark-blue jacket and a camouflage bandanna on his head. Police said tips received through social media led to Frost's arrest.
