Church notes: What's going on at area churches this weekend

Washington County

First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, presents an All-Church Fall Study Series beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday and continuing through Oct. 20. The book study is titled Love Does by author Bob Goff. Following the study, adults will join with the Student Disciples and Children's Choir members for dinner at 5:30 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church in Eureka Springs, 209 Spring St., will host the annual Blessing of the Animals service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., hosts the "It's Fall Y'all!" family fun festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in McKay Hall. Enjoy games, raffle door prizes, candy, food and drinks for the whole family.

Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 Lancashire Blvd. The public is invited.

The featured speaker is Cindy Adams, an event planner. The guest speaker is Beth Walker. Her presentation is titled "That's News to Me."

This brunch is held on the second Tuesday of each month, and an all-American breakfast is served for $10. The program is sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries.

The Prayer Connection meets at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 at Bella Vista Community Church.

Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church, 14108 E. US 62, will host its annual Harvest Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16-17. Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. offering beans or soup with cornbread, dessert and drink. Crafts, pies, jellies and baked goods will be for sale.

First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., welcomes the Rev. Burns Stanfield of Boston on Oct. 6-7 for the annual Clabaugh Lecture Series offering titled "My Neighbor's Faith." He will be speaking on interfaith considerations in our changing community.

On Oct. 6, the Rev. Stanfield will preach at the 10:15 a.m. service and will give public presentations on interfaith issues at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 and at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7. All are welcome.

First Presbyterian Church in Rogers, 1901 S. 26th St., hosts a fellowship lunch group at a local restaurant following Sunday worship. Lunch reservations are required. Call the church office if you wish to attend.

On Wednesday, the men's lunch group meets at a local restaurant at 11:45 a.m. The deacons meet in the library at 3 p.m., and starting at 5 p.m., a fellowship dinner followed by a video and Bible book study is in Washburn Hall. Choir practice starts at 7 p.m. in the choir room.

Thursday the Presbyterian Women have a Project Day meeting in the library from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The Lunch Bunch fellowship lunch meets at a local restaurant at 12:15 p.m. Yoga class meets in the narthex from 5:45-6:45 p.m.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, hosts the annual United Methodist Women's Holiday Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5.

Homemade cinnamon and orange rolls and coffee will be available at 8:30 a.m., with hot chicken salad, sloppy joes and chips, stuffed baked potatoes, and dessert available after 10:30 a.m. A variety of hand-crafted items, "dignified discards," plants, homemade jams, jellies, breads and desserts and so much more will be available. All proceeds go to support local charities.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets from 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays in the parlor. Come for an hour of visiting and stitching.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, hosts a potluck meal following worship Oct. 6. The Women's Second Saturday Brunch and Bible Study begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 12. Both events are at the church.

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., will have special music during the morning service, starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, performed by 4Calvary. The gospel quartet from Nixa, Mo., is well known in the area as well as at Silver Dollar City in Branson.

A free concert for the public begins at 2 p.m. Sunday. Everyone is welcome.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., will not host a blood drive Sept. 30 due to a Community Blood Center of the Ozarks scheduling conflict. Parishioners are invited to visit the Bentonville Donor Center at 1400 SE Walton Blvd. to donate blood.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., opens the Oasis Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 2.

This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries. A potluck fellowship dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, and the community is always welcome. At 6:30 p.m., there will be singing, devotions and prayer in the Worship Center. Infant and toddler nursery for kids is offered as well.
